Campfires & Cocktails Charity Event || 2 Ticket GIVEAWAY!!

HEY GUYS!

Todays post is something I’m super excited about and that really means a lot to me. Camp was something that really changed my life around and contributed to making me into the person I am today. Working at Muskoka Woods was an experience and memory I’ll never forget. Meeting lots of people that have become close friends of mine, teaching kids different skills and spending an unforgettable summer on the most beautiful lake. I couldn’t imagine a life without camp and think everyone should experience it.

That being said, Campfires & Cocktails is a Toronto based charity event that celebrates Camp and all its goodness.

ABOUT THE NEIL LOVATT MEMORIAL FUND

The Neil Lovatt Memorial Fund was established in 2002 as an initiative of the Southill Glen Foundation and the Muskoka Woods Youth Foundation (MWYF) to raise funds to send economically disadvantaged youth to summer camp.

Each year, the NLMF sends over 120 deserving youth, from priority neighborhoods, for a memorable week at Muskoka Woods. In partnerships with organizations like UrbanPromise, Youth Unlimited, One Voice One Team and the Salvation Army, 1,393 children have attended camp who could not otherwise afford it.

Victoria Secret Fashion Show 2014 | MAKE UP

As most of you may know, tonight is the airing of the 2014 Victoria Secret Fashion Show. A night to get together with your girls (although I’m sure the boys wouldn’t mind joining in) and watch beautiful, fit women strut their stuff in jaw dropping costume lingerie. Being a Fashion Merchandising graduate I was always in awe of the themes and how incredible every look is.

I’ve been following some of the models on social media and love the makeup and hair they rocked for the show. As always it’s soft and sexy but this year they really focused on extra glowy skin, defined eyes and a glossy pink lip! I hope you guys all enjoy this pic-torial and give it a try for yourself! Who doesn’t want to be a angel anyways?

Step One:

All the models already have flawless skin and it didn’t look like they were wearing any foundation so I used MAC face and body since it has a natural, dewy finish.

IMG_4428

Step Two:

To highlight and accentuate the high points of my face I used MAC Pro Longwear concealer. Concentrate this to the centre of your face. *Don’t forget to set with powder!

IMG_4429

Step Three:

Taking a light pink shimmer shadow, dust this all over your lid right up to your brow bone.

IMG_4432

Step Four:

Using a bronze/topaz colour start blending it out at the outer corners of your eyes. This will give your eyes a “sexier” shape.

IMG_4434

Step Five:

To define it even more take a dark bronze colour and really blend this right at your lash line and fade it out. To add some flutter to my lashes I added the Ardell demi wispies lashes.

IMG_4437

Step Six:

To give me an all over glow I took MAC “give me sun” bronzer all over my face and lightly contoured with it. For a pop of colour on my cheeks I used MAC “well dressed” blush.

IMG_4438

Step Seven:

For that “angelic” glow I used The Balm “mary loumanizer” on all the high points of my face.

IMG_4442

Step Eight:

Finishing off the look with MAC “angel” lipstick (how fitting) and NARS “turkish delight” gloss on top.

5 Faves : Fall Lipsticks

Tis’ the season to wear rich, bold and colourful lipsticks. What girl doesn’t appreciate a good vampy lip colour while holding a pumpkin spice latte, am I right? Today I want to focus in on my top 5 favourite lipsticks at the moment. All of these colours are great for Fall and cater to every type of person.

BOBBI BROWN “SANDWASH PINK”

Guys, this has been in my purse for the last six months and I am still rocking it on a day to day basis. I love the rosey undertones and I seriously always get a compliment whenever I wear it. This colour is also a beautiful shade on brides. So, if your getting married and in the market for a great lip colour, I highly suggest this one!

*Fun fact: Kate Middleton wore this exact lipstick on her wedding day!

MAC “UP THE AMP”

If your looking for something that isn’t too crazy but brings colour to your face, this shade is to die for. You can lightly tab it onto your lips for sheerer coverage and everyday use. This colour really looks awesome on all skin colours and really gives your look a colourful touch.

IMG_3969

MAC “PARTY LINE”

I love this colour because it’s so easy to wear. I feel like burgundy reds are so in for Fall and this one is perfect. I love that it has a glossy finish and doesn’t dry out your lips but makes them look lush and full. This colour is incredible when I’m at my palest because it contrasts so beautifully against my skin.

IMG_3970

NARS “DRAGON GIRL”

This is my go-to red. I am obsessed. It has blue undertones which will make your teeth appear whiter and is SOO easy to apply. The satin matte finish makes this lipstick stay on for a good 8 hours which is great for a work day. It compliments any skin tones that have cool or neutral undertones in it.

*Taylor Swift always rocks this lipstick!

IMG_3971

JOE FRESH “PLUM PRUNE”

I found this liquid lipstick while checking out at the grocery store, and I must say I’m pleasantly surprised. It lasts forever on the lips and has such a rich feel to it. It doesn’t dry up and crust on your lips but it feels like a satin finish. This is such a perfect colour for a vampy makeup look or if you want to try something a little more daring.

DIY: Balayage Highlights

Today’s post is for all those “at-home RISK takers”. Let’s be honest, getting our hair done at a salon can be hard on our bank accounts, and more then half the time we can’t tell any difference or it comes out looking like a train wreck. Sometimes doing your hair at home can be … well, even worse. But today I want to show you the way I Balayage BROWN hair and safe to say, it’s pretty fool proof.

WHAT YOU NEED:

 1)  Highlight Kit. I recommend Revlon Frost&Glow for brunettes

2) Several sheets of tin foil. This helps quicken the process of highlighting the hair since it keeps the heat altogether.

3) A purple toner. This is a MUST for any at home highlights. It tones the hair and gets rid of any brassiness.

3) Hair clips. This will help to section off your hair so it doesn’t become one big mess.

4) A brush OR comb.

IMG_3893

STEP ONE:

Section off the hair in three parts. Right, left and back. Then starting with the back, section it off to where you want your highlights to begin.

IMG_3908

STEP TWO:

The great thing about balayage is that you highlight WHEREVER you want. It’s supposed to look natural and effortless. Pick up a section of hair and with the parting tool you get in the kit weave in and out so you’re left with small strands of hair.

IMG_3911

STEP THREE:

This step is probably the most important. If you just kept those strands of hair as is and applied the bleach you would be left with an awful strait line across, which is NOT cute. To avoid that, take your comb or brush and back comb the strands of hair so that your hair is uneven and you are left with a natural gradient.

IMG_3913

STEP FOUR:

After mixing the bleach together from the kit, take a sheet of tin foil and start applying the bleach onto the hair. Remember you want to add a generous amount so that every piece of hair is soaked up.

IMG_3919

STEP FIVE:

Make sure to fold the tin foil and tightly secure it around the hair so that it stays in place.

IMG_3921

STEP SIX:

Continue to randomly select sections of hair and highlighting. I like to alternate the heights of where I start so that it doesn’t look fake. I also concentrated on putting a lot more highlights around the sides of her face so that it frames it nicely.

IMG_3925

STEP SEVEN:

After waiting about 20-25 minutes (constantly open foils and check) wash out the bleach then apply the purple toner on all the highlighted strands. This takes away any brassiness and will leave behind a beautiful blonde. This particular toner only needs to be left on for 2-4 minutes.

Wash out, dry and style! Good Luck!
