How to: CONTOUR

Last year I posted a “how to contour” step by step, but I thought it would be great if I showed you my updated routine. Instead of using cream products (which sometimes is a little heavy and too much effort) this way is super easy and everyone can do it.

The most important part of contouring is remembering that everyone has a different face shape. For example, if you have a a larger forehead and narrow chin, you’ll want to contour your forehead and really highlight your chin so that it brings proportion to the face. Wherever you use a dark shade it creates a shadow and makes that area look defined and sculpted and wherever you want to highlight and lift you use a lighter shade.

Hope this helps and you can all give it a try!

STEP ONE:

The most important step of contouring is to have a perfect base. Use a heavier foundation and really create a flawless finish.

_MG_4634

STEP TWO:

Using a very pale highlighting concealer ( I used Maybelline Instant Age Rewind) map out the areas of your face that you want to highlight and lift. I did under my eyes, nose, forehead, above my lip, chin and lower cheek.

After your blend out the concealer make sure you set with a yellow tone powder. I used banana powder from Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit.

_MG_4635

STEP THREE:

Taking a grey tone brown start blending it in the areas you want to contour and sculpt. I put it under my cheek bones, sides of my nose, temples and jaw line.

I used fawn from the Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit.

_MG_4640

STEP FOUR:

After your happy with your highlight and contour then add a pop of blush to your cheeks and some highlighter to the high points of your face for added effect.

Blake Lively Inspired Ponytail

Blake Lively is definitely one of my hair inspirations and I loved this look she wore a while back and thought it would be perfect for the Holidays. This is for the girls who are daring and “ballsy” with their hair. It would be perfect for some one who is going strait from work to a Holiday party. Hope you enjoy and try it out even if you don’t think it’s your style, you may change your mind!

STEP ONE:

Gather all your hair into a regular ponytail. You can choose to make it slick and tight, or loose and textured.

_MG_4612

STEP TWO:

Back comb the pony so that it will appear thicker.

_MG_4613

STEP THREE:

Taking the top half of the pony, braid it into a fishtail braid. *OPTIONAL

_MG_4614

STEP FOUR:

This is where you can have fun. Taking clear elastics start creating balls in your pony. You can make them all different sizes or keep it uniform.

GOOD LUCK!

Christmas Twist || Easy Updo

This hairstyle is super easy to do and it looks like you spent a lot longer than you actually did on it. Great if you’re running late for a dinner or party, this hairstyle is chic, elegant and perfect for the holidays.

STEP ONE:

Starting off with the bottom section of your hair, roll it around your fingers in one direction and pin into place.

_MG_4571

STEP TWO:

This hairstyle works best in sections, so depending on how thick your hair is will decide how many sections you should do. Make sure you roll every section in the same direction. This will create the “french twist” effect.

_MG_4572

STEP THREE:

With the top and final section, back comb the roots so that you have volume. I like to feather out some pieces so that it looks more effortless and tousled.

_MG_4574

STEP FOUR:

Twist the final section and secure with bobby pins.

GOOD LUCK

Victoria Secret Fashion Show 2014 | MAKE UP

As most of you may know, tonight is the airing of the 2014 Victoria Secret Fashion Show. A night to get together with your girls (although I’m sure the boys wouldn’t mind joining in) and watch beautiful, fit women strut their stuff in jaw dropping costume lingerie. Being a Fashion Merchandising graduate I was always in awe of the themes and how incredible every look is.

I’ve been following some of the models on social media and love the makeup and hair they rocked for the show. As always it’s soft and sexy but this year they really focused on extra glowy skin, defined eyes and a glossy pink lip! I hope you guys all enjoy this pic-torial and give it a try for yourself! Who doesn’t want to be a angel anyways?

Step One:

All the models already have flawless skin and it didn’t look like they were wearing any foundation so I used MAC face and body since it has a natural, dewy finish.

IMG_4428

Step Two:

To highlight and accentuate the high points of my face I used MAC Pro Longwear concealer. Concentrate this to the centre of your face. *Don’t forget to set with powder!

IMG_4429

Step Three:

Taking a light pink shimmer shadow, dust this all over your lid right up to your brow bone.

IMG_4432

Step Four:

Using a bronze/topaz colour start blending it out at the outer corners of your eyes. This will give your eyes a “sexier” shape.

IMG_4434

Step Five:

To define it even more take a dark bronze colour and really blend this right at your lash line and fade it out. To add some flutter to my lashes I added the Ardell demi wispies lashes.

IMG_4437

Step Six:

To give me an all over glow I took MAC “give me sun” bronzer all over my face and lightly contoured with it. For a pop of colour on my cheeks I used MAC “well dressed” blush.

IMG_4438

Step Seven:

For that “angelic” glow I used The Balm “mary loumanizer” on all the high points of my face.

IMG_4442

Step Eight:

Finishing off the look with MAC “angel” lipstick (how fitting) and NARS “turkish delight” gloss on top.

How To: Fake Fishtail

This post is for all those girls out there that have a hard time doing cool braids or fishtails with their hair. This is seriously the easiest hairstyle and it looks EXACTLY like a fishtail but even better. I hope this helps you out and that you love it as much as I do!

xx

IMG_4511

Step One:

Starting at the back of your head, grab two pieces of hair and tie them together with a clear elastic (you can get these at shoppers for $5.00). Once you’ve secured it with the elastic, pull the lower half through the hole that the upper pieces leave in between.

IMG_4499

Step Two:

Grabbing another two pieces do the exact same thing. Make sure the hair you grab is all different sizes so that the end result has more texture.

IMG_4500

Step Three:

Continue the first step all the way to the ends of your hair and secure with an elastic. This method of using elastics ensures your hair will stay all day where as a regular fishtail can fall out if you don’t have all one length hair.

IMG_4501

Step Four:

For extra fullness, lightly tug at random pieces to make it more messy and effortless.

IMG_4502

Good Luck!

Holiday Sparkle

The Holidays are approaching and with that comes the parties! This look is great to add a little glam and sparkle to your look but isn’t too much for all the natural makeup girls out there. I will be doing a couple different makeup and hair looks that would be great to rock at any Christmas party this year. Hope you enjoy!

xx

IMG_4355

STEP ONE:

After applying an eye shadow base, take a taupe brown and really blend it. Really constrict this colour JUST to the crease because we want to create a “cut crease” effect.

IMG_4339

STEP TWO:

This is where you can have fun. Taking the Stila foil shadow in the rose gold colour I placed it on the lid. I really layered this product on so that it was the main focus of her eyes.

IMG_4340

STEP THREE:

Taking a medium bronze colour, blend it under the lash line to give definition to the eyes.

IMG_4343

STEP FOUR:

I felt like the look could use a bit more drama so I gave her a cat eye to really show off the sparkle on her lid.

IMG_4346

STEP FIVE:

To finish off the eyes I added a pair of edgy lashes to compliment the cat eye liner. This part is of course optional.

IMG_4349

STEP SIX:

For Erica’s face I just used a tinted moisturizer, warm colour bronzer and my Givenchy highlighting pen. For her lips I kept it neutral and lined them with MAC Stripdown liner and filled with Buxom Lip foundation in Undressed.

IMG_4352

Good Luck!

Fall Makeup // Burgundy Wine

We all know that the best part about Fall is the beautiful colours. Burgundy wine coloured anything reminds me of rich, luxurious things. I love having it in my wardrobe and especially in my makeup. This look it extremely easy and a great way to introduce colour into your look. Enjoy!

xx

IMG_4220

STEP ONE:

After priming your lids, apply a medium coloured brown into your crease. Really blend out this colour.

IMG_4211

STEP TWO:

Taking this beautiful pigment from L’oreal called “Glistening Garnet” I put it onto the tops of my lid. If you want a more opaque effect then spray some MAC fix plus on your brush.

IMG_4212

STEP THREE:

Using a berry coloured liner (you can use any colour) I rimmed my upper and lower lash line and extended it at the corners.

IMG_4213

STEP FOUR:

For some highlight I used MAC vanilla pigment in the inner corners of my eyes and the centre of my lids.

IMG_4215

STEP FIVE:

I wanted this look to be glam so I added some fake lashes but that’s completely up to you.

IMG_4216

STEP SIX:

Mixing MAC’s Diva and Up the Amp to create the perfect burgundy/wine colour.

IMG_4217

GOOD LUCK

If you haven’t already noticed I’m slightly obsessed with hair. I was always the girl that would play with their friends hair and want to try out new styles and fun things. Taylor Swift Inspired Makeup

Taylor Swift is taking over the music world at the moment so I thought it would be perfect if I recreated her iconic makeup look. To be honest I’m usually not the biggest fan of her music but her latest album, 1989 is great! She’s been known to rock a sultry cat eye with her famous red lip and I can’t say no to that, so here it is!

IMG_4122

Step One:

After applying foundation and concealer I started with my Make Up For Ever aqua shadow stick in 22E and constricted it to the outer corner of my eyes. This will create an outline for our cat eye.

IMG_4109

Step Two:

Taking the gold shadow in my Maybelline Nude’s palette I pressed it in all over my lid but really concentrating it in the inner corner of my eye.

IMG_4110

Step Three:

Take your favourite black liner and create that wing! Don’t bring it further then the middle of your eye because we want this wing to make our eyes have more of an almond shape.

IMG_4112

Step Four:

You don’t have to add lashes but I wanted to add more to the cat eye so I chose a pair that really wing out at the sides. Coat with your favourite mascara on the top and bottom lashes.

IMG_4113

Step Five:

Using MAC’s “Give me sun” bronzer I lightly contoured but really just wanted to give my face some colour. Instead of blush I just popped the bronzer onto the apples of my cheek.

IMG_4115

Step Six:

For the perfect red I used NARS “Dragon Girl” Lip pencil. Taylor Swift actually uses this colour so it’s perfect!

IMG_4116

* I didn’t cut my hair but just pulled my shortest top layers to the front so it looks like a have a bob.

IMG_4121

Doe a Deer || Halloween Makeup

This Halloween look was so much fun to create and I’m so happy with the final result! I’ve seen lots of people do it and I wanted to give it a try and make it my own. If I was to go all out for a Halloween party I would definitely be rocking this makeup for the night, I love it!

IMG_4071

IMG_4073

Step one: After applying my regular foundation routine, I used white face paint and a beauty sponge and blended it around my eyes and the bridge of my nose.

IMG_4056

Step two: This is where you can get creative. I used brown gel eyeliner and just mapped out where I wanted everything to go. Check out Pinterest for some other peoples Deer makeup.

IMG_4059

Step three: Using a blending brush and a matte brown shadow, I then softened up the harsh lines of the eyeliner so that it looked more 3D.

IMG_4060

Step four: Taking dramatic spiky lashes (this is optional) I then placed them under my eye to give the illusion of “doe eyes”. I also put a regular pair of lashes on my upper lid as well.

IMG_4062

Step five: Taking the white face paint and the back of a brush, I placed spots on the highest part of my cheek bones and in the centre of my forehead.

IMG_4064

Step six: To give that dark brown deer like colour, I took a really dark matte bronzer and really contoured my cheek bones and temples. This step would be better before the spots but I forgot, whoops!

IMG_4066

Step seven: For your lip colour you really can choose anything you want but I kept it simple and actually used my eyebrow pencil to outline my lips then filled with Bobbi Brown Beige lipstick.

IMG_4067

Hope you enjoyed. Good luck!
