Happy APRIL everyone!

Easter is this weekend and I’m super excited, but what’s also awesome is that CAMPFIRES & COCKTAILS is just around the corner too! Check out some of my previous posts on how YOU can win a PAIR of tickets to this amazing event. I’m also giving you guys some outfit inspiration so you can dress to impress for this years theme, #madforplaid.

Feminine & Sweet

This look has to be my favourite. It’s girly and elegant but still gives off a rustic flare with the plaid shirt. I love wearing pastels in the Spring and this outfit embodies that. Not only would this outfit be PERFECT for Campfires & Cocktails it’s a great outfit for Easter as well.

Campfires & Cocktails || Outfit Inspiration #1

Hey guys, hope everyone is doing well and excited for a new month! I’m especially excited for April because that means Campfires & Cocktails is coming up fast! Check out my previous post for more details about this event that you WON’T want to miss!

Since this years theme is #madforplaid I wanted to show you guys some different ways you can wear it. The first style is for all you laid back girls that like to keep it casual with a bit of edge. Layering with your plaid shirt is a way you can highlight a bold colour with the plaid as a background accent. To give more of a “dressier” feel to the look add a statement piece necklace to the mix. This one from http://www.nataliewaldmandesigns.com is my favourite at the moment.

I hope this can give you some inspiration on how you can dress for the event. I’ll be posting a couple more looks with different styles so that there is something for everyone.

Campfires & Cocktails Charity Event || 2 Ticket GIVEAWAY!!

HEY GUYS!

Todays post is something I’m super excited about and that really means a lot to me. Camp was something that really changed my life around and contributed to making me into the person I am today. Working at Muskoka Woods was an experience and memory I’ll never forget. Meeting lots of people that have become close friends of mine, teaching kids different skills and spending an unforgettable summer on the most beautiful lake. I couldn’t imagine a life without camp and think everyone should experience it.

That being said, Campfires & Cocktails is a Toronto based charity event that celebrates Camp and all its goodness.

ABOUT THE NEIL LOVATT MEMORIAL FUND

The Neil Lovatt Memorial Fund was established in 2002 as an initiative of the Southill Glen Foundation and the Muskoka Woods Youth Foundation (MWYF) to raise funds to send economically disadvantaged youth to summer camp.

Each year, the NLMF sends over 120 deserving youth, from priority neighborhoods, for a memorable week at Muskoka Woods. In partnerships with organizations like UrbanPromise, Youth Unlimited, One Voice One Team and the Salvation Army, 1,393 children have attended camp who could not otherwise afford it.

Foundations || Full coverage and long wearing

How is everyone?!  I know I’ve been forgetting to post lately but I’ve been focusing on Youtube (elanna pecherle) a lot but I’m going to try to post once a week on here until I sort out my schedule. I’m going to focus on a lot more reviews on new products so that you guys can see if you want to purchase and give it a go. What are you guys wanting to see more of? Comment and let me know 🙂

_MG_5075

Today I’m focusing on my 3 favourite foundations that are FULL coverage and long wearing. They all are absolutely fantastic but I love them for different reasons. Hopefully this is helpful for you guys and especially because we are coming into warmer weather and we want our foundation to last as long as possible.

Maybelline FIT ME Matte and Poreless Foundation

_MG_5078

Price: $8.00 – $10.00

Where to buy: Shoppers Drug Mart, Wal-Mart and Rexall

This foundation is a winner in my eyes for a drugstore foundation. It’s rich formula blends out flawlessly on the skin leaving no streaks. What I love best about this foundation is that you don’t need to wear a primer with it. It smooths out the skins texture and leaves a flawless finish. The colour range is great and it lasts a long time on the skin. For even longer wear try the FIT ME powder to set with. The combo of both products is heavenly if you have oily skin.

Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation

_MG_5080

Price: $40.00 – $44.00

Where to buy: Select Shoppers Drug Mart, The Bay and Sephora

This is my all time fave foundation. On days where I know it’s going to be long and filled with little mirror time (touch ups) I know I can count on this foundation to keep it together for me. The foundation is thick but I always use it with a beauty blender and it’s the perfect consistency. A little goes a long way with this stuff but I promise you that you’ll fall in love. It isn’t too drying but doesn’t make you look too “glowy”.

NARS Luminous Weightless Foundation

_MG_5079

Price: $50.00 – $57.00

Where to Buy: The Bay, Sephora and Holt Renfrew

Yes, this foundation is way too expensive but you use the SMALLEST amount and it’s a beautiful finish. If you have oily skin, this will be your saving grace. It’s a super watery consistency and one pump can give a natural finish, two pumps is heavenly. I know I’ll be loving this stuff in the summer when my skin is over its dry patch stage (clings to any dry skin so exfoliate).

Foreo Luna Mini Review || What saved my face

Hey guys, I’m back today to talk a little bit about what has saved my face. There is no sarcasm there because my skin was going through absolute hell. Let me tell you what exactly happened…

I finally had found a good skincare routine that I was enjoying (nothing drastic, but was maintaining) and wanted to try out a new cleanser for oily skin types. I was recommended a Peter Thomas Roth one that had 3% glycolic acid in it so I thought, why not? I used it three times in one week and noticed my skin feeling very tight and dry. Not only was it getting dryer and dryer by the minute, I was finding it hard to even open my mouth because of how stiff it made my skin. After a week I legit had lizard skin. It was so corse, rough and overly dry that it started to crack and break out. I kept trying different moisturizers/oils/lotions to try and regain its normal oiliness, but nothing was working. After about three weeks of hell it started to ease up but I found that I was getting acne and blackheads around my mouth/chin area which made me very insecure.

After many different recommendations I decided I didn’t want to try out anymore products but realized I needed a deeper cleanse. I wanted to try out the Clarisonic Mia but wasn’t really into having to purchase a new brush head every three months so I was told to try out the Foreo Luna Mini. To be extremely honest I didn’t think twice about the $159.00 price tag and just thought, what do I have to lose? Let’s just say, I could cry with the transformation my skin has made (in the best way possible).

luna 2

First of all, the colour selection is fantastic, I went with the dark purple colour but they have lots to choose from. You only have to charge it once every 500 uses and only takes an hour to charge. It’s compact, travel friendly and completely waterproof. It has three silicone touch-points for a safe and gentle or deep cleanse. It has anti aging properties, removes dead skin cells, helps the appearance of pores and leaves your skin bright and radiant. Basically what this does is cleanse your face 7x’s more effectively than what your hands can do.

luna 1

I use the Philosophy Cleaner with it and love the effect. It unclogs my pores, gets the hard to reach areas and leaves my skin feeling rejuvenated and extremely soft. I use it before I go to bed and also when I wake up, and within three days I noticed a difference in my complexion.

How to use:

luna demo

There are two levels on the luna, a faster vibration for a deeper cleanse and a lower speed for a more gentle cleanse. On both levels there are 15 second intervals so that you don’t over cleanse one area over another. I like to do 15 seconds on my left and right cheek, chin and lip area and forehead and nose. This gives me a total of one minute of cleansing. Sometimes I’ll put it on the lower speed and do 15 seconds under each eye in an upward motion as well.

If I wanted a deeper cleanse I just flip it so that the thicker touch-points can really get all the problem areas.

Overall, this product has seriously changed my life. As dramatic as that is, it’s true. I highly recommend this to anyone who is suffering with blemishes, oiliness, blackheads or any kind of skin issues. Not to mention it comes with a two year warranty so you know you can trust this product and how it’s made.

Blue & Beige || New Year Thankfulness

Well, 2015 is here and I seriously cannot express how excited I am and what is to come. 2014 was filled with lots of love, happiness, sadness, decisions and emotions. I cannot be more grateful for every single person who has impacted my life last year and continues to challenge me daily.

This year I am making more time for adventures, being present and really challenging myself with this blog. Well, with YouTube to be honest. I want to really focus on making videos that can really help and teach people different tips and tricks with beauty related topics. I believe I have a gift and with it I want to share it. Making some one feel beautiful is really what fuels my passion. With working in the wedding industry and teaching makeup, I see how many women are affected with their appearance and what they want to “change”. My heart is to show them the beauty they have and little ways to show confidence (through hair and makeup in my case) and to feel beautiful.

Thank you to all of you who have been nothing but kind and supportive to me through this journey and have never doubted me. I absolutely love what I do and am so thrilled for what 2015 has to offer.

LOVE YOU ALL

As for todays post. Just a fun winter outfit that I put together (blue and beige, surprise, right?)  that I thought you may enjoy!

Stay warm, friends!

How to: CONTOUR

Last year I posted a “how to contour” step by step, but I thought it would be great if I showed you my updated routine. Instead of using cream products (which sometimes is a little heavy and too much effort) this way is super easy and everyone can do it.

The most important part of contouring is remembering that everyone has a different face shape. For example, if you have a a larger forehead and narrow chin, you’ll want to contour your forehead and really highlight your chin so that it brings proportion to the face. Wherever you use a dark shade it creates a shadow and makes that area look defined and sculpted and wherever you want to highlight and lift you use a lighter shade.

Hope this helps and you can all give it a try!

_MG_4669

STEP ONE:

The most important step of contouring is to have a perfect base. Use a heavier foundation and really create a flawless finish.

_MG_4634

STEP TWO:

Using a very pale highlighting concealer ( I used Maybelline Instant Age Rewind) map out the areas of your face that you want to highlight and lift. I did under my eyes, nose, forehead, above my lip, chin and lower cheek.

After your blend out the concealer make sure you set with a yellow tone powder. I used banana powder from Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit.

_MG_4635

STEP THREE:

Taking a grey tone brown start blending it in the areas you want to contour and sculpt. I put it under my cheek bones, sides of my nose, temples and jaw line.

I used fawn from the Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit.

_MG_4640

STEP FOUR:

After your happy with your highlight and contour then add a pop of blush to your cheeks and some highlighter to the high points of your face for added effect.

_MG_4642

GOOD LUCK
